Sino ang mga nagsasabi diyan na hanggang pagpapa-cute lang ang kagandahan ng isang Janna Mara Tiangco? Wrong kayo diyan! Maski sanay si Janna sa world of fashion na kung saan ay laging pa-glamour sa rampa at catwalks ang ginagawa niya, Janna certainly knows that once she entered the world of acting- ibang-iba na ang magiging mundo niya.
Parang si Kris Aquino nung nagsisimula pa lamang na todo sa pagiging sosyal. Pero sa mga comedy films na ginawa, nariyang ilublob siya sa putik, hagisan ng kamatis at kung anu-ano pang mga “unglamorous” acts on comedy.

Ngayon, ang kasosyalan ni Janna ay napasabak din sa pagiging “unglamorous”.Look na lang sa poster sa itaas ng isa sa mga indie films na entry sa Cinemalaya 2011. Wala siyang ka-makeup-makeup! Mukha siyang biktima ng kalamidad. Mukha siyang losyang!
Dahil iyon ang hinihingi ng karakter na kanyang ginagampanan sa pelikula. Isa siyang unwed young mother na naanakan ng isang bagets nalalaki (portrayed by indie actor Joeffrey Javier).Mahirap lang siya, walang mapuntahan. Kaya isa siya sa mga unwed mothers na inaaruga ng isang public hospital.
And yes, inaamin ng baguhang si Janna na very challenging nga ang kanyang role. Kakaiba daw talaga ang papel niya dito, a far cry from her world of modelling and high fashion, and being a beauty queen in her hometown in Angeles City, Pampanga.

“Nagpapasalamat din kami ng anak kong si Janna kay direk Wardo Roy”, sabi naman ni Mr. July Tiangco, ang butihing ama ni Janna.”Hindi kasi niya pinabayaan ang anak ko sa pelikula. Nagdagdag pa siya ng mga dramatic highlights sa anak ko para mas mapansin. At ang ganda ng billing niya sa movie- ‘introducing’ ang anak ko. Kay bait talaga ni direk Wardo!”, anya pa.

Kaya naman, sa darating na gala night ng indie film na “Bahay Bata”, tiyak na dadalo si Janna. Ngayon pa lang ay nag-aagawan na ang mga magagaling na fashion designers sa Pampanga para gumawa ng gown ni Janna na isusuot sa Gala Night ng movie niya. Iba rin ang gown na isusuot niya sa Gala Night din ng isa pang indie film niya sa Cinemalaya 2011- ang “Bisperas” na sa direksyon naman ni Jeffrey Jetturian. Tiyak niyan, magkikislapan sa mukha ni Janna ang mga ilaw ng kamera ng mga local paparazzis sa darating na Cinemalaya 2011.

We always say that we will never ver fully understand guys. But, they feel the same way. Cosmo got upcoming leading man, JM De Guzman, to point out female behaviors that leave most men scratching their heads.

You know a gentleman has superstar potential when he can hold his own onscreen against other crushes ng bayan by flashing that enigmatic, boyish grin. Juan Miguel De Guzman has been in show business for over a decade, but the female population discovered him rather belatedly via the blockbuster hit, My Amnesia Girl. His hypnotic eyes, heart-melting smile, and very Pinoy features made a lot of femmes sit up and say “Who’s that hottie?” But anonymity is now a thing of the past. With primeitme exposure on TV, thanks to the remake of legendary soap, Mula Sa Puso, major endorsements, and an album in the pipeline, this enigmatic hunk’s name is already on a lot of ladies’ lips. One sultry afternoon, JM took time from his packed schedule to tell us, in his words, the 10 things he doesn’t get about women. Read on and discover the female quirks that baffle men.

1. “You seem to enjoy finding fault in other women. I noticed that some chicks go as far as checking the Facebook profiles of girls they don’t like, just to make fun of the latter. I don’t get why you like dissing other girls.

2. “You can’t go out of the house without taking at least an hour to get ready. Do you really need to get dressed for a trip to the mall? Okay lang naman ‘yung mag t-shirt and jeans lang eh.Hindi kailangan laging todo porma.

3. “You go to the washroom together. I find it amusing and a little weird when I see girls flock to the toilet together. I don’t see the point of having an entourage with you.”

4. “You wear sexy clothes and get mad when guys take a peek. Why wear that low-cut blouse if you don’t want guys looking at your cleavage? Isn’t that why you wore it in the first place?”

5. “You play hard to get even if you like a guy. it’s frustrating when a giel I’m interested in gives signal that she likes me, only to play mind games after. Be fair and just tell guys straight how you feel about them.”

6. “You hardly say anything on first dates. The reason why we’re having a date is for me to get to know you and vice versa. Don’t play it cool too much. It seems like you’re really not interested in me.”

7. “You get mad when it’s officially ‘us” and I go out with the boys. We still have to make time for friends and individual hobbies. “Nakakasakal ‘yung laging magkasama.”

8. “You don’t know how to accept compliments. It’s such a buzz kill when I tell a girl how beautiful she is, only to get a snappy ‘bolero!’ answer. Not all guys are flatterers> I say what I really feel. Just say thank you and make my day.”

9. “You like bringing your boyfriends to every single party there is. trust me, your guy like seeing you looking hot during special occasions, but if he says he’s not up for it, just let him be. We love you, but we also don’t enjoy being a constant ‘bitbit’.”

At a far glance, you’ll know at once that he’s a star. The aura tells it. The looks can swoon you.
His skin is so white, his hair is wavy with little curls from here and there. He looks foreign. Not the Filipino-type.
Looking at him a little more closely, you’ll think of Hollywood actor Keanu Reeves. And the late Christopher Reeves, the original “Superman”.
Cross-between them two. He looks like them. Physically. Handsomely.
Locally, he’s got a resemblance with Eric Quizon- an actor-director- in his younger years.
His ways are decent.
Dignified. Well-mannered. Polite.

And his name is: IAN BATHERSON.
Who’s afraid of Ian Batherson?
He’s been in Philippine showbiz now for more than a year. But, something’s got to give. Someone has to kick elbows and call the crowd for him.
Whose name is Ian. Yes, Ian Batherson.
It seemed that people were afraid. But they shouldn’t.
He should have been the male lead actor to portray the lover-diver of the lead actress (portrayed by actress Jackie Rice) in GMA-7’s new teleserye: “Sisid”.
But two other actors of his category got the part (Dominic Rocco and JC Tiuseco), and he was demoted to a supporting role.
With this, Ian had to say:
“Yeah, I am not hypocrite to say that I didn’t feel bad about it”, he quipped. “I really felt bad. Coz I know I can portray the role. And I prepared myself to deliver the role. I practiced more of scuba-diving stuff. I can swim good. I improved my physique to show them off. But still, in the end, they gave the part to someone else. I really felt bad.”
Now, his role in the said teleserye and TV soap opera will be a minor part. He will be the lead actor’s bestfriend who lives in Manila. His character’s name there is Dexter, the buddy of the lead actor.
Maybe, a blessing in disguise?
“I do hope so”, Ian answered. “And I will keep on doing my best.”
Before this teleserye, Ian joined Starstruck star search of channel 7, before being among the Survivors in “Survivor Philippines”. But he was the fourth guy who was ousted there, unluckily, and other guys stole the show and the limelight.
That’s why Ian is now deciding to go a little sexier.
“I am willing to bare more and do sexy roles”, he said to this writer. “This year, I want to join Cosmopolitan Bachelors Bash, I can ramp there and take-off my shirt and wear skimpy trunks. I really want to do ramp this time.”
Ian is under GMA Artist Center home talents of GMA channel 7. With Mr. Arsi Baltazar as their mentor and handler there.
Lived most of his life in California, Ian’s mom has Filipina blood. And he’s learning Tagalog, a native Filipino dialect, so much more.
“Give me more time, and I will be fluent!”, Ian said.
By that time, no one else will ever be afraid of Ian Batherson.
